Where to go after learning the basics with Arduino?
So I just ordered the "Arduino Inventor's Kit" from sparkfun.com, and it looks awesome. However, I can help thinking about where to go when all of it's said and done.
So where can I go after I complete the basic projects with the Arduino microcontroller kits? How do I take my creations to the next level and start implementing more advanced electronics, robots, hooking electronics up to your car to show Mph/Kph, LCD displays... stuff like that?
What other kind of tools and boards will I need for the more advanced projects, and how do I go about learning about these things?
I'm pretty new to the electronic world, and I'm not sure how to dive in.
Thanks!
Even with strong electronics and very strong programming skills, I found that the highly rated book...
"Beginning Arduino" by Michael McRoberts (Dec 23, 2010)
... provided me with guidance in both electronic and programming side of Arduino. You can start with simple projects such as these and add on to them to discover the limits of the product and your imagination. Keep some long-term project in mind as you tinker and build your skills.
I have found that I'm more limited by mechanical aspects of building equipment rather than the conceptual side. I'm looking at the prospect of taking classes in welding, for example. You can find ample help through robot sites on the Internet as well. I'd find something that tweaks your imagination and interests:
- weather stations
- security alarm systems
- positioning of heliostats
- animatronics with interactive features
It's important to find a project that you can be passionate about.
