What was the weird physics-like device on the desk in Iron Man 2?

I remember from one of the scenes, there was a device on a desk that Tony Stark became annoyed with and tried to stop from moving, it reminded me of a Gyro or Newton Cradle. It seemed to produce perpetual motion in a way (impossible I know). Anyone have any clue what the name of this device is?
