What will be the results for this science fair project?
My problem is " Does temperature and humidity affect the amount of condensation formed?"
My hypothesis is If temperature and humidity decreases then the amount of condensation will increase?
Take alarge black plastic garbage bag and cut one side open soyou can open it up to make one large flat piece. It willprobably be about three or four feet square. Dig a holeone foot deep and almost as wide as the spread out plasticbag. Put a shallow cup or bowl at the center of the hole.Stake each corner of the bag to cover the hole. Put apebble or small rock on the top of the bag to depress thebag’s center slightly, being sure not to let it sag deepenough to touch the container underneath. Using twothermometers, measure the temperature in the hole underthe bag and the outside air temperature. Condensation will form on the underside of the bag and will drip down intothe container if the outside air heats up and the airinside the hole remains cooler.
I think the temps have to be opposite. The humidity has to be on the inside and the bag where moisture will collect. The cool air outside will do the condensing. Think of your house in the winter time when you have the windows shut and the heater on. It's warm inside, cold outside. When the two temps meet at the window site, you get collections of "sweat" on the inside of your window.
But that's the beauty of scientific experimentation. You hypothesize, test, observe, re-test, observe, then draw conclusions. It's ok if your original hypothesis is disproved. You can propose another hypothesis based on your results. Good luck! ; )
