Evan Math
10pt for the best answer for my math question...?

Evan is painting a stool that has a cylindrical seat and four rectangular prism legs. The seat has a diameter of 14inches and a height of 4 inches. Each leg is 4 inches by 4 inches by inches. How much area will Evan have to paint? Use 3.14(pi) Show your work.

Total Surface area of the cylinder = 2πr(h + r)
h = 4 inches
r = d/2 = 14/2 = 7 inches

Therefore,
Total Surface area = 2 * 3.14 * 7 * (4 + 7)
total Surface area of cylinder= 2 * 3.14 * 7 * 11 = 483.56 inch²

A rectangular prism is nothing but a cuboid.
Total surface area of the rectangular prism = 2(lw + wh + hl)
l = 4 inches, w = 4 inches, h = 4 inches.
Therefore,
TSA = 2(4*4 + 4*4 + 4*4)
TSA = 2(16 + 16 + 16)
TSA = 2(48) = 96
Total Surface Area of the rectangular prism = 96 inch²

The total area Evan has to paint = TSA of Cylinder + TSA of Prism
= 483.56 + 96 = 579.96 inch²
