Did you read some of the Solomon's Proverbs ? What can you tell about them?

PROVERBS CHAPTER 1

1 ¶ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 ¶ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
10 ¶ My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for

Solomon was very wise... he was David's son and inherited the throne when David died. Upon taking over, God gave him one request, and Solomon 'wisely' asked for wisdom to take care of Israel. God was understandably excited about that, so God blessed him with wisdom plus lots of bonus blessings. Proverbs is a great book with tons of insight in bite-size nuggets. Some of my favorites are:

Prov 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Prov 11:25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

Prov 16:2 All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.

Prov 18:2 A fool finds no pleasure in understanding, but delights in airing his own opinions.

Prov 18:17 The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
